The Bluebell Woods

A walk within the bluebell woods
is where I'd like to be,
Your hand so gently wrapped in mine
and mine held tight by thee.
The branches hanging overhead
with sunlight peeking through
Reflecting off the leaves so green
framed by the sky so blue.
Bare feet upon the softened twigs
a squirrel dances past
To just breathe in the forest air
and be with you at last.
I'd pick a single bluebell
and carry it with care
pressed gently twixt some pages
To remind me I was there.
So come and walk beside me
you know it would feel good...
To walk among the bluebells
In my perfect bluebell wood.

This link leads to a webcam site.  It has a random webcam every so often and it is a different place in the world each time.  I found this to be nice to see if the sun is up or it is night and all the different places.
I hope you enjoy as much as I have.

Years ago when I was a working lass, I worked alongside a young man who was quite disabled, called Chris. He was one of lifes special people, and someone, once you met them, you would never forget. He was great fun, and a ray of sunshine at work. Some days at work, he would bring a dish of savoury mash in, large enough for the four of us who worked together, made by his dear Mum for our lunch. Twenty minutes before lunch, he would pop this in our oven there to warm it up, and we would sit with a plate of this, and a smile on our faces, as they were SO much better than the usual sandwiches we would have. I post this recipe today in memory of Chris, who passed away when in his twenties, after suffering a hole in the heart all his life.
To those who knew this fun loving young man, he left a hole in their hearts too.

Tonight we have savoury mash served with a salad, and I shall be thinking of Chris when I eat it. This is my version of a tasty side dish.

Savoury Mash

Peel a few potatoes, and an onion, which needs slicing. Adjust quantities according to how many you are feeding, all ingredients are flexible.
Put them in together, potatoes and sliced onion, and boil the potatoes just as you would for cooking mashed potatoes. When cooked, add a little butter and mash or cream as normal. Then toss in a generous handful of grated cheese and mix well. Put into a dish, and bake near the top of the oven, with another handful of grated cheese on the top, which will melt deliciously as you brown the dish off. It won't need baking long as it's already cooked, just long enough to melt the cheese and brown nicely.
Serve with salad, or sausages, or burgers, or fish...or almost anything you like.
